Keith Berner, the proprietor of Berner Metal Works, has been involved with the working and manipulation of metals for over thirty years. He was first exposed to blacksmithing while working at a 19th century village museum in western New York in the early eighties.
Membership in a blacksmith’s guild, as well as classes in welding, machining and industrial model making, have given Keith a variety of experiences and skills.
His recent introduction to jewelry making techniques, and additional artistic blacksmithing skills through the Haywood Community College Program in the Professional Crafts, has further expanded his abilities in metal fabrication work of all sizes.
Keith is currently using unusual metal objects to create and fabricate contemporary and innovative works for functional home and outdoor décor. Keith and his work has been featured in Bold magazine, and his work can be seen at a number of events in Hendersonville including his work on one of the banners in the downtown banner project, Art on Main, and Henderson Studio tour and Biltmore Village Art Show. His work is currently on exhibit at Art on 4th Studio. Every piece of metal he finds, he explores ways to include in his metal sculpture.
